COUNTRY: Germany/ South Caucasus SHORT DESCRIPTIONBackgroundOn behalf of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), GIZ is implementing a program supporting the private sector development in the South Caucasus. The program was established in 2008 in Georgia. The following countries are involved in the program: Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia. The concept “sustainable entrepreneurship” is still largely unknown in the South Caucasus region, both among entrepreneurs and among institutions for the promotion of entrepreneurship and value chains. For that reason, the Private Sector Development Program South Caucasus (PSDSC) has decided to organize a summer academy on sustainable entrepreneurship. The summer academy on sustainable entrepreneurship and value chain development in the South Caucasus countries aims to sensitize on the topic and analyse the capacities and support needs of enterprises and entrepreneurs and their value chain actors in this regard. The concept “sustainable entrepreneurship and value chain development”, in this sense, means the capacity of an enterprise to generate profit, all the while acting in a socially and ecologically responsible way and value chain environment. Project AimThe Summer Academy intends to create a platform for the acquisition of international expert know-how as well as for the exchange of know-how and experience among stakeholders in the countries and with international experts.
