CASE STUDIES FROM OUR PROJECTS
Tourism Product and Brand Development | Training and Capacity Building | |
With the objective to enhance the development of sustainable mountain tourism in the cross-border triangle of Albania Montenegro and Kosovo the Tourism Expert Barbara Fritz developed, on behalf of the GIZ and in close cooperation with local stakeholders, the concept of a cross-border hiking trail, connecting the three mountain regions. To professionally market the trail and create a tangible tourism product, a brand has been commonly developed: the “Peaks of the Balkans” (www. peaksofthebalkans.com). The local stakeholders have been awarded with the Tourism for Tomorrow award for this outstanding tourism product and for the commitment of three countries. |
Within the framework of the Green Star Hotel (www. greenstarhotel.com) project, AGEG developed and established a national eco-certification system for the Egyptian hotel industry. This involved the development of a complete training and capacity building programme. The programme targeted, not only hotel staff, but also the hotel middle management to enable them to further train their staff. Applying that system, over 500 hotel representatives in 14 Egyptian Destinations were trained during the project. |
